Sorry, Error,
Grandad "Frisco" was buried in Denver. Mum and I did visit a relative in Dereham though in the late 70s. The son was a second cousin and I believe had a motor bike.
Our last visit in summer 2019 saw a 4 x4 T bone another car that had blindly joined the A10 from Hilgay at the north junction. It was my wife and I that phoned the Ambulance and rescued and comforted the victims until the Ambulance arrived. More news for the Parish Mag.

Hello Anthony,
I'm sorry it has taken the last few years to get back on this site; but this last few years has been the strangest and I reckon a lot of people have burned up time trying to make sense of life and carry on as normal.
It is sad that the site doesn't carry messaging to advise guest bookers of a contact.
We were last in Hilgay in summer 2019 looking to pay respects to Gt Grandad but couldn't find his stone but reading the parish mag over a few pints in the Rose &Crown I discovered that mole traps had been stolen from the field and vandalism had occurred in the cemetery. I couldn't find Grandad "Frisco" in Dereham either " sleeping where no shadows fall".
They did tell me in the pub that some Palmers still live in the Hilgay and I took a wander around to the properties I knew from my child hood visits but to no avail.
I do remember Gt Uncle Algy and having Fish n Chips at Mums (Cecily ) cousins. when I was about 10.My mum , would talk about 'Palmers Perfects' and Marion reminded me of them during my visit to her in Kent, which I hope to do again this year.
We are looking to visit UK later this year, first time since the lock down and I give the compilers of this site permission to pass on my email address to you to so we can short circuit and ensure we meet up.
Thanks for your message and sorry it took so long.
Best
Stu

Hi Ann, we last corresponded in 2002 - how time flies - your father and my grandfather (Victor Rowley) served together in 821 Squadron on HMS Puncher and HMS Trumpeter. Unfortunately my grandfather has since passed away but he was very interested when I discussed the link with him.
Anyway I was just letting you know that with the introduction of the award of the Arctic Star in 2012 I was able to apply and be granted this award for my grandfather. Not sure if you have done same. regards Troy Bates (Australia)

Hello Ann. Thank you for all your research. My Nana was a Scott, my mum's mum. So I briefly looked into the name and find a Welney connection via our direct ancestors, my 5 x GG Thomas SCOTT 1729-1811 and his wife Mabel WEEKS 1728-1783. Now very keen to understand what kind of Scotts were in Welney, and where Nicholas SCOTT 1661-1732 came from.

My great grandmother was Hannah English who was a twin, sister to Martha born in Stoke ferry, daughter of William and Sarah English. I met Roy Palmer from Oldham who was researching his family history and told me of the tragic history of the family of which I was unaware. Hannah married George Groom in 1876. They had a daughter Hannah who married Arthur Pepper, my mum’s maiden name. I need to spend more time recording what I have discovered as it is fascinating.

Hi ! I am Linda ,the Great Grandaughter of Ryfealyer de Silva Palmer 1882.Ryfealyer had three daughters ,Doris (my Nan) ,Violet and Daisy .Daisy died when she was approximately 21 but I have no idea why she died at such a young age .When I was young I quizzed my Nan on this subject and she would always say she died of “women’s problems” ??? I think she was skirting round the question and I never got a more informative answer,So……..If anyone knows what Daisy died of it would solve a question I’ve been asking for about 55 years now ! 🤔x

Hi, my name is Janice (Andrews) Bragg. My 2x great grandparents lived in Upwell and were buried in the Upwell Cemetery. I believe they were Baptist. Their names were William Armstrong (1847-1926) and Honor (Mack) Armstrong (1848-1916). Their daughter, Rosa, and her husband, William Henry Staines, emigrated to Canada in 1913. I am very interested in my family's history and many came from the Cambridge, Norfolk, Huntingdonshire area. Such a shame that so many old cemeteries were left forgotten.
